[Straight from the PM] Aqara Home Lighting Experience: Give Us Your Brutal Truth

Hi @Jooooa !
It will be great that @AqaraOfficial bulbs were able to make different light effects, like the smart led strips. Sunsets, Ocean, fire… Can you imagine the E27 T2 making your lamps gorgeous or the GU10 T2 projecting handsome effects to your walls and floors? Thank you for listening!

It would be great if the Aqara Ceiling Light T1M had a built-in sleep timer / delayed turn-off option by default.

I know this can be done through automations in the app, but sometimes I just want to quickly set the light to turn off after 10–30 minutes, especially when I’m already sleepy. A simple option like “turn off after…” would be much more convenient and user-friendly.

This would be a very useful quality-of-life improvement.

I paired my new Hub M3 with T1M and also added H2 Smart switch 4button 2 channels to it. The settings/configs is far from intuitive, begining on Zigbee/Matter selection. App recommended pairing over matter, I did that and I was not able to find the main features that I bought the swicth for. After bit of googling I had to switch to zigbee mode. The AI chatbot was recommending fictional how to guides.
Another paint point was to get it working like I expected.
I wanted to achieve “decoupled” mode so the T1M will always remain online (thes witch never cuts power to it), instead to use all of the button and press modes as scene/automation triggers.
As 1st time user I saw decoupled mode, i turned it on. I also read about MARS technology which promised better functionality when pairing Aqaura lights so I also turned it on. The result was mess. Relays were still switching even though I turn two settings on to prevent it. Behaivior was chaotic.
After some trial and error I disabled MARS smart laod, I left only the decoupling on and only after that I gor desired behaivior. Better UI sorting, recommendation or at least an warning pop up for people trying to turn on both functions.

Will be nice to have a set of Aqara Christmas light outdoor and indoor use that are HomeKit compatible as all the Aqara products and can be used also under a pergolas

Just my ideas…

Smart Outdoor PIR Sensor - There are millions of these out in the world. In the UK, simple 240v power in, PIR for movement and 240’s out, with settings for Lux and Time. The issue with these is when using smart bulbs to set colour, brightness, or turn on / off by time of day, not just movement.
It would be really simple for Aqara to create a smart one of these. Effectively a watertight unit with PIR and inbuilt T2 Relay. These units will have permanent power, could have battery option but if they’re replacing an existing unit they would be powered, and currently run with L & N wires even in the UK, making them idea acting as repeaters as well linking the indoors to the outdoors!

LED Strip Controller - Currently the in the UK the T1 LED Strip using a 3 pin plug and has a controller near the strip. This simply doesn’t fit in many installations and is very plug & play / consumer based. Aqara really need to create a proper LED controller that can connect to a standard LED power supply and outputs to standard LED format such as WS2814. Being able to link the Aqara controller to the Aqara eco system with Zigbee or externally with Matter could be great.

Connectivity is biggest issue- should have Matter and Thread as well as wifi. GET RID OF ITEMS NEEDING THE AQARA HUB. Should be able to use thread with 3rd party matter accessories. Add presence sensors to lights - Should also add presence sensor to a Light Switch

Oh and another thing is definitely an outdoors LED “chain”, not a strip but a flexible “chain” that I and MANY people use for x-mas decorations in their houses, on their trees etc. huge market because the once you buy I most places are sooo bad quality the whole “ light chain” doesn’t even last 1 season, and personally I would pay good money for a working chain that would last many years. :pray:t2:

One of the most important things we could do is get an outdoor spotlight with a camera. I’ve seen other companies do them before, but they’ve been around for ages and don’t feel or look very modern anymore. It would be great if we could get one that uses Matter over Thread. That would really make my day! Lighting

You can’t have a camera that is Matter over Thread. Thread is designed for low bandwidth low power. Matter over WiFi would be the correct thing to use.

Respectfully, the Camera Hub G350 does Matter over Thread

Some of it is Matter over Thread, but the Camera is not.
