As I’ve been setting up my smart home, I’ve noticed that naming devices based on their function rather than their location simplifies voice control, especially with Google Home. For instance, all my ceiling lights are simply named ‘Ceiling Light’ in Swedish, making it easy to control them by room. However, this approach poses a challenge when integrating devices across different rooms without renaming them each time they’re moved.
My Proposal: Adding an Area tag in the device/entity selector dropdowns would greatly enhance usability. This feature would allow me to quickly identify which device I’m referring to, especially when managing devices across multiple rooms.
