I’ve been diving into the world of smart home automation for a while now, and it’s been an incredible journey. I wanted to share some of my experiences and tips in case they might help others out there. 
One of the biggest challenges I faced was integrating multiple brands into a cohesive system. I have a mix of Z-Wave, Zigbee, and Wi-Fi devices, and getting them all to play nicely together was no small feat. The key was finding the right hub that could support all these protocols seamlessly. After some research, I settled on Hubitat, and it’s been a game-changer for me. 
Another area I’ve been focusing on is motion lighting. I’ve set up a system where motion sensors trigger specific lighting scenes based on the time of day and my current mode (like ‘Away’ or ‘Home’). It’s been so convenient, especially during those early mornings when I don’t want to fumble with switches. However, I did run into an issue where the lights wouldn’t dim properly. After some troubleshooting, I realized it was a compatibility issue with the dimmer driver. Replacing it with a GE Zigbee Dimmer driver solved the problem!
