I wanted to share my recent journey into the world of smart home automation. It’s been an exciting adventure filled with learning curves and rewarding successes. I recently integrated my Warema roll shutters into my Home Assistant setup, which has been a game-changer for my home comfort.
Initially, I faced the challenge of controlling these roll shutters without relying on Nabu Casa. After some research, I discovered that using a Shelly smart plug as a bridge was an effective workaround. This setup allows me to automate the roll shutters seamlessly with Alexa, enhancing my daily routine.
Another area I focused on was ensuring reliable connectivity for my Nuki smart lock. I decided to switch from Wi-Fi to an Ethernet connection, which not only improved security but also provided a more stable connection. This change was crucial, especially when I’m away from home and rely on remote access.
Through these experiences, I’ve learned a few valuable tips that I’d like to share:
