Hey everyone,
So I’ve been trying to get my Aqara devices to work with Alexa and it’s been… a journey
I’m totally new to this smart home thing, finally pulled the trigger during the sale last month and grabbed a few Aqara door sensors and a motion sensor, plus the M2 hub.
Hub’s connected fine through the Aqara app, devices show up, automations work there. But when I try to link it with Alexa… nada. The skill is enabled, account linked, but the devices don’t show up in the Alexa app at all. I’ve restarted everything more times than I’d like to admit and even tried removing and re-adding the skill.
Am I missing something obvious? Is it a region thing maybe? Any kind of trick or setting I should check?
Appreciate any tips you folks can throw my way. Would love to get this all working together so I can yell at Alexa to turn on my “movie mode” like in the YouTube vids
Thanks!

@NestNerd It sounds like you’ve done a great job setting up your Aqara devices with the Aqara app, but I understand how frustrating it can be when things don’t go as planned with Alexa. Let’s see if we can get everything working smoothly for you!
Firstly, it’s crucial to ensure that your Aqara Hub M2 is properly connected to the Aqara Home app since this is the foundation for linking with Alexa. The Aqara Hub M2 itself won’t appear directly in Alexa, but the child devices, such as your Aqara door and motion sensors, should be visible if everything is set up correctly.
Here are a few steps to check and ensure everything is in place:
-
Verify Integration Steps: Make sure you’ve followed the integration steps correctly. In the Aqara Home app, go to Profile > Smart Speaker Service > Amazon Alexa, and verify that all steps have been completed successfully.
-
Check Device Compatibility: Ensure that your Aqara devices are compatible with Alexa. The devices like the Aqara Door and Window Sensor and Aqara Motion Sensor should be visible in Alexa once linked properly.
-
Region Settings: It’s a good idea to double-check your region settings in the Aqara Home app. Go to Profile > Settings and make sure the region is set correctly.
-
Recheck Connections: Sometimes, relinking the Aqara skill in Alexa can help. After removing the skill, ensure you re-enable it and log in with your Aqara account again to link the services.
If you’ve done all of the above and still face issues, it might be worth checking if your devices support Alexa and that you’ve followed the integration steps correctly. Sometimes a simple restart of the hub or re-adding the devices can also resolve unexpected issues.
I hope this helps you get your “movie mode” set up just the way you want it. Feel free to ask if you have any more questions or need further assistance. The community is always here to help!
