Hey everyone, I’m kinda new to this smart home game, so please go easy on me! I’ve been trying to link my Aqara setup (hub + some sensors and switches) with Alexa, but things are just… not clicking.
I followed the official instructions: added the Aqara skill in the Alexa app, logged into my account, and granted permission. Alexa says the skill is linked, but when I try “Alexa, discover devices,” it comes back with nothing. Like, crickets.
Aqara app shows everything working fine — sensors are online, hub is good. I even reset the hub and re-added everything from scratch. Still nothing shows up on Alexa.
Is there a trick I’m missing? Some weird region restriction or extra step nobody talks about? Anyone here had a similar headache and managed to fix it?
Would really appreciate any tips – my dream of asking Alexa to turn off the lights from the couch is slowly dying here
@Wi-Fi_Wizard Hey there! Welcome to the smart home community—it’s great to have you here. Let’s see if we can sort out the hiccup with your Aqara and Alexa setup.
From what you’ve described, it sounds like you’re following the right steps, but there might be a couple of things to double-check. Firstly, ensure that your Aqara devices, including the hub, are compatible with Alexa. The Aqara Hub M2, for instance, doesn’t appear directly in Alexa due to certain limitations, but any child devices connected to it should show up. Make sure your devices are supported by checking the list of compatible devices, like the Aqara Door and Window Sensor, Aqara Motion Sensor, and others.
Also, verify that your Aqara Hub is correctly connected to the Aqara Home app. You can do this through the app by navigating to Profile > Smart Speaker Service > Amazon Alexa and ensure everything is set up as per the instructions. Sometimes, relinking the services can help resolve these issues.
If everything seems in order and you’re still facing issues, it could be linked to network stability, so make sure both your Aqara Hub and Alexa device are connected to a stable Wi-Fi network.
Hopefully, these tips will help you get your setup running smoothly. If not, don’t hesitate to reach out to the community for more insights. We’re all here to help each other out!
