I wanted to share a success story that might be helpful for others facing similar challenges. Recently, our garage experienced a plumbing issue that caused flooding. The water kept seeping through the walls and pooling on the floor, and it wasn’t feasible to fix the root cause immediately. Wyze Cam Setup: I placed a Wyze Cam v3 in front of the affected wall. The camera’s motion detection feature was key here. I set up a detection zone specifically targeting the area where water was pooling.

Float Trigger: To detect water levels, I used a simple DIY float made from a fishing bobber attached to a string. When the water rose, the bobber entered the detection zone, triggering the camera’s motion sensor.

Wyze Outdoor Plug and Pump: I connected a small, durable pump to a Wyze Outdoor Plug. The pump was placed outside the garage to drain the water away effectively.

Routine Automation: Using Wyze’s app, I set up a routine where the Outdoor Plug would turn on for 3 minutes whenever the camera detected movement in the designated zone. This duration was just enough to pump out the accumulated water before it could cause damage.
The system worked flawlessly! It automatically detected the water levels and activated the pump, allowing me to monitor the situation remotely without constant vigilance. This setup not only prevented further flooding but also gave me peace of mind knowing the problem was under control.
