Hey everyone! I wanted to share my recent success with setting up an automation in Home Assistant. It’s a simple yet effective setup that I’ve been wanting to get right for a while now. The goal was to have a motion sensor activate our circulation pump for a specific duration. Let me walk you through how I achieved this and hopefully, it can help someone else too!
First, I created a timer helper with the restore option enabled. This was crucial because I wanted the automation to persist even after a restart of Home Assistant. Next, I set up the automation with two triggers: one for the timer and another for the motion sensor. The challenge was figuring out how to select the timer trigger within the automation editor. Initially, I was a bit confused because the option wasn’t immediately obvious, but after some research and trial and error, I managed to get it working!
The automation now works seamlessly: when motion is detected, the pump turns on for the set duration. It’s been running smoothly without any issues, and I couldn’t be happier with the result. I think this setup will save me a lot of time and energy in the long run. If anyone has similar automation ideas or needs help troubleshooting, feel free to reach out! I’d love to hear about what others are working on. ![]()
