I recently decided to enhance my home automation setup by integrating a Fibaro Smart Implant with my VeraPlus system. The goal was to utilize three DS18B20 temperature probes for monitoring different areas of my home. Initially, the setup seemed straightforward, but I encountered a few challenges that I wanted to share and hopefully help others avoid.
First, I connected the Fibaro Smart Implant to VeraPlus, expecting it to recognize each DS18B20 probe individually. However, VeraPlus only created a single temperature sensor, which was reporting a temperature around 10°C higher than the actual readings. This was puzzling, especially since even with just one probe, the temperature was still incorrect. I tried removing and re-adding the device multiple times, but the issue persisted.
After some research and reaching out to Fibaro support, I discovered that the issue might be related to how VeraPlus handles multiple DS18B20 probes. The solution involved updating the firmware on both the Fibaro Smart Implant and the VeraPlus system. Once the firmware was updated, I carefully reconnected each probe, ensuring they were properly addressed in the VeraPlus configuration.
The result was a seamless integration! Each DS18B20 probe now functions as intended, providing accurate temperature readings across different zones of my home. This setup has been incredibly useful for monitoring environmental conditions, especially during the colder months.
For anyone looking to integrate multiple temperature sensors, I recommend ensuring all devices and hubs are running the latest firmware. Additionally, double-checking the configuration settings and probe connections can save a lot of time and frustration. It’s always a bit nerve-wracking when things don’t work as expected, but troubleshooting and perseverance paid off in the end!
