I recently embarked on a project to integrate some smart bulbs into my Hubitat ecosystem, and I wanted to share my experience in case it helps others who might be considering a similar setup. Spoiler alert: It was a breeze once I figured out the right approach!
The Setup
I decided to go with Sengled multi-color Zigbee bulbs for their versatility and compatibility. My goal was to control these bulbs using my existing Lutron Caseta dimmers. I was curious if they could work together seamlessly or if I’d need to jump through hoops to make them play nice.

Tips for a Successful Setup
- Patience is Key: While the bulbs do connect automatically, there’s a slight delay as they establish a connection with the hub. This is normal, so don’t worry if it takes a few seconds.
- Firmware Updates: Make sure your bulbs and hub are running the latest firmware. This ensures optimal performance and compatibility.
- Scene Integration: Once everything is set up, consider integrating your bulbs into scenes for even more convenience. For example, you could create a scene that sets the lights to a warm, inviting color when it’s time to relax in the evening.
The Outcome
The result? A beautifully integrated system that enhances my home’s ambiance. The ability to change colors and adjust brightness via the Caseta dimmers has added a new level of control and customization to my smart home setup. Plus, the energy efficiency of these bulbs has been a pleasant surprise!
