Successful Shelly 2.5 Rolling Shade Setup and Calibration Tips

Hey everyone, I wanted to share my recent experience setting up Shelly 2.5 for controlling my rolling shades. It’s been a bit of a journey, but I’m thrilled with the results!

I’ve got two sets of shades—one from 3T and another from Schellenberg. The Schellenberg ones were a breeze to calibrate, but the 3T shades had me scratching my head for a while. The issue was that during calibration, the 3T motors seemed to have a slight delay in their reaction time compared to the Schellenberg ones. This delay caused the calibration process to fail at the final step, leaving me with a partially configured setup.

After some research and trial and error, I discovered that adjusting the power detection settings in the Shelly app made a huge difference. I increased the power threshold slightly to account for the motor’s delayed response. This tweak allowed the Shelly to accurately detect when the motor had reached the desired position, completing the calibration successfully.

Now, both sets of shades are working perfectly! I can control them via voice commands, the Shelly app, or even through my smart home hub. It’s amazing how seamless the integration is once everything is set up properly.

For anyone else struggling with similar calibration issues, I’d recommend:

  • Testing with different power detection thresholds
  • Ensuring your motor’s reaction time is accounted for in the settings
  • Double-checking the firmware on your Shelly device

It’s also worth noting that while manual calibration can be a bit tedious, it’s definitely worth the effort for the precision and reliability it provides. I’m now looking into automating the shades based on daylight hours—fingers crossed that goes smoothly too!

Happy smart home tinkering everyone! :rocket:
