Hey everyone, I wanted to share my recent experience adding some used Arlo Pro 4 cameras to my existing hub. At first, it was a bit of a puzzle, but I managed to figure it out with some research and persistence. Here’s what worked for me:
1. General Tips:
- Make sure your cameras are fully charged before starting.
- Work on one camera at a time to avoid confusion.
- Remove batteries from any additional cameras you’re trying to add to prevent interference.
2. Resetting the Cameras:
- Remove the camera from its shell.
- Press and hold the link button until the LED flashes amber.
- Wait until it switches to flashing blue (this means it’s reset and in pairing mode).
- After several seconds of blue flashing, remove the battery (you’ll reinsert it during the Add Device procedure).
3. Connecting to Wi-Fi:
- Use the Arlo mobile app to add the camera.
- Select “Connect without SmartHub” to connect directly to your Wi-Fi network, not the hub.
- Enter your network name and password. The camera will connect to your Wi-Fi and download any necessary firmware updates (this may take 3-5 minutes).
4. Re-adding to the Hub:
- Once the camera is connected to Wi-Fi, go into the settings and remove it.
- Reset the camera again to clear the Wi-Fi link settings.
- Now, use the Add Device procedure again, selecting “Continue” when it detects your SmartHub.
- Follow the instructions to name your camera and complete the setup.
This process worked perfectly for me, and I hope it helps someone else out there! I did all of this using the Arlo mobile app on my iPhone 12, but I assume it should work similarly on other devices.
