Successfully Adding Tenvis IP Camera to Vera Lite

Hi everyone, I wanted to share my experience with adding the Tenvis JPT3815W 2013 IP camera to Vera Lite. Initially, I faced some challenges, but after some troubleshooting, I managed to get it working smoothly. Here’s how I did it:

  1. Manual Addition: I chose the “manually add” option in Vera Lite. I entered the snapshot URL and login credentials, but encountered the “Unable to get image from your camera” error. This was a bit frustrating, especially since it worked with an older firmware version.

  2. SSH Access: I tried SSH-ing into the Vera box to check for errors, but couldn’t find anything specific. This made me a bit concerned, but I decided to keep trying different approaches.

  3. Firmware Check: I realized that the issue might be related to the firmware version. After some research, I updated Vera Lite to the latest firmware, and to my relief, the camera was successfully added!

  4. PTZ Control: I also wanted to control the camera’s tilt and pan via Vera Lite. I found that sending specific HTTP requests directly to the camera’s web interface worked perfectly. For example, /media/?action=cmd&code=2&value=1 moves the camera up. It was a bit of a workaround, but it got the job done.

  5. Tips for Others: If you’re having trouble adding your Tenvis camera, ensure your Vera Lite is running the latest firmware. Also, double-check your camera’s settings and HTTP commands. Don’t hesitate to reach out to the community if you’re stuck—there are some really helpful people here!

I’m really happy to have this camera integrated into my smart home setup. It adds an extra layer of security and peace of mind. Hopefully, this helps someone else who’s going through a similar process. Happy tinkering! :rocket:
