Hey everyone, I wanted to share my recent success in getting the Google Assistant component working with my Home Assistant setup. I’ve been trying to get this sorted for a while now, and I thought I’d document my journey in case anyone else is struggling with the same issue.First off, I’m running Home Assistant on a Raspberry Pi 3B with Hassbian, and I had everything set up with dynamic DNS through No-IP and SSL enabled with Let’s Encrypt. I followed the official Home Assistant documentation for the Google Assistant component, but I kept hitting a wall at step 6. The error message was pretty vague: “Something went wrong - Please try again later.” I could see my app listed in the Google Assistant app on my iPhone, but when I tried to add it, it just didn’t work. After a bit of research and some trial and error, I realized that the issue might be with my SSL configuration. I double-checked my certificates and made sure that port 443 was properly exposed and accessible. I also tried resetting my Google Home app and re-adding my Home Assistant instance. Finally, it clicked! I had to ensure that my SSL certificate was correctly configured and trusted by Google’s servers. Now that it’s working, I’ve noticed a significant improvement in how my smart home devices integrate with Google Assistant. My wife is thrilled because she can now control everything with her voice, and I’ve even set up some custom routines that make our daily lives a bit easier. For example, I have a routine that turns on the lights, adjusts the thermostat, and plays some music when we get home in the evening. If anyone else is struggling with this, I’d recommend checking your SSL configuration first. Make sure your certificates are up to date and that your port is correctly exposed. Also, don’t hesitate to reach out to the community for help—there are some really knowledgeable people here who are more than willing to assist. Thanks to everyone who contributed to the documentation and forums, and a big shoutout to my wife for being patient while I worked through this! ![]()
