Successfully Controlling Somfy Blinds with Virtual Switches and Scenes

Hey everyone, I wanted to share my recent success with controlling my Somfy blinds using virtual switches and scenes on Vera Edge with RFXtrx433e. I’ve been experimenting with getting my blinds to stop at specific positions, like 75% open, and it’s been a fascinating journey!

Initially, I was using the standard up, down, and stop commands, but I really wanted more precise control. After some research, I decided to create a virtual switch linked to a timed scene. The idea was to have the blind go up, wait a bit, then come down for a set amount of time to reach the desired position. It took a few tries to get the timing right, but it finally worked!

Now, the next challenge was displaying the actual position of the blinds in one icon on Imperihome. I created four different icons representing 100%, 75%, 50%, and 0% open positions. The goal was to have Imperihome update the icon based on the blind’s current position. While I haven’t fully cracked the automation part yet, I’m excited to see how others have tackled this.

I’ve also been exploring the possibility of using multiple virtual switches to control different scenes, each corresponding to a specific position. However, figuring out how to link these switches to a single, dynamic icon has been tricky. I’m curious if anyone has a clever workaround or a step-by-step guide they could share.

Overall, I’m thrilled with how far I’ve come, and I can’t wait to continue refining this setup. If anyone has tips or alternative methods, I’d love to hear them! Let’s keep the ideas flowing and help each other achieve that perfect smart home automation.
