Hey everyone! I wanted to share my experience with installing the Govee Flood Lights, which I’ve been really excited about. Initially, I had some concerns about how to set them up properly, especially since I wanted them to be weatherproof and still connect to my Wi-Fi. Let me walk you through how I tackled this!
First off, I ordered the Govee Flood Lights and was planning to use a wire and a waterproof box to keep the power brick and control box inside. But then I realized that this setup might put the lights too far from the control box, potentially causing connectivity issues. I wasn’t sure if the Wi-Fi range would be sufficient, and I didn’t want to end up with dead lights in the backyard!
After some research and a bit of trial and error, I came up with a solution that worked perfectly. I decided to cut the wires between the control box and the lights and extended them using a couple of meters of waterproof cable. This way, I could keep the power brick and control box inside a weatherproof enclosure while still placing the lights far enough away to cover the desired area. It was a bit of a DIY project, but it paid off!
I used some waterproof connectors to ensure that the connections were secure and wouldn’t fail in different weather conditions. I also made sure to test the setup before finalizing it, just to be safe. The result? The lights are working flawlessly, and I can control them through my smartphone without any issues. It’s such a relief to see them shining brightly every evening!
If anyone else is thinking about installing these lights, I’d recommend considering a similar approach if you need the lights to be farther from the control box. Just make sure to use high-quality waterproof materials and test everything thoroughly before you commit to the final setup. Happy installing! ![]()
