Hey everyone! I wanted to share my recent success in integrating my Blink outdoor camera with an Alexa routine. I’ve been using Blink for a while now, but I always struggled with getting it to work seamlessly with my smart home setup. After some research and trial and error, I figured it out!
The Challenge: I wanted my Blink camera to send a notification to my phone whenever motion was detected, but I also wanted it to trigger an Alexa routine that would turn on my porch lights and play a quick alert sound. It sounded simple, but getting everything to communicate was tricky.
The Solution: I discovered that using IFTTT was the key. By setting up an IFTTT applet that connects Blink’s motion sensor to Alexa, I could create a seamless workflow. Here’s how I did it:
- Set Up Blink Motion Alerts: I made sure my Blink camera was properly configured to send motion alerts to my phone.
- Create an IFTTT Applet: I used IFTTT to create a trigger based on Blink’s motion alerts. When motion is detected, IFTTT sends a signal to Alexa.
- Configure Alexa Routine: I set up an Alexa routine that turns on my porch lights and plays a custom alert sound when triggered by IFTTT.
Outcome: Now, whenever someone walks past my camera, I get a notification on my phone, and my porch lights come on automatically. It’s been a game-changer for home security!
I hope this helps someone else who’s been struggling with similar integrations. Happy automating! ![]()
