I recently embarked on a project to integrate my Arlo cameras into Apple’s HomeKit ecosystem, and I’m thrilled to share my successful experience! ![]()
After some research, I discovered that purchasing an Arlo Hub was essential for linking everything into HomeKit. I was initially confused about whether the monitoring system itself acted as a hub, but it turns out the Hub is a separate device. Once I set it up, I was able to control and monitor all my Arlo devices seamlessly through the Home app.
One thing I was particularly concerned about was compatibility. I have four Arlo Essential Cameras and a Floodlight Pro 3, and I was relieved to find that they all worked perfectly with HomeKit. I also found a list of HomeKit-compatible Arlo doorbell models, which was super helpful for future upgrades!
To make the integration even smoother, I set up a few automations. For instance, I linked my Floodlight Pro 3 to turn on automatically when motion is detected by one of my Arlo cameras. It’s amazing how much peace of mind this adds!
For anyone looking to do the same, here are a few tips:
- Research Compatibility First: Make sure all your devices are HomeKit-compatible before making any purchases.
- Use the Arlo Hub: It’s a game-changer for seamless integration.
- Experiment with Automations: They can really enhance your smart home experience.
