Successfully Integrating Evohome with Homey for Electric Heater Control

I’ve been on a journey to integrate my Evohome system with Homey to control my electric heaters, and I’m thrilled to share my success story! :tada:

The Challenge: By default, Evohome doesn’t support switching electric heaters, but I knew Homey could be the solution. After some research, I found that with the right setup, it’s completely doable!

Setup Requirements:

  • A Honeywell T87RF2025 sensor (or compatible)
  • A smart switch that can handle high loads (I used an Osram Smart+ Zigbee switch)
  • A Homey hub, of course!

Step-by-Step Process:

  1. Create a New Zone in Evohome:

    • Enter the Evohome setup menu and select zone configuration.
    • Add a new zone and name it something meaningful (like “Electric Heater Zone”).
    • Choose the zone type as “Electric zone” to avoid unintended boiler activation.
  2. Configure the T87RF2025 Sensor:

    • Reset the sensor by holding the left button for 10 seconds.
    • Pair it with Evohome by selecting “Co” and pressing the left button.
    • Evohome should confirm the sensor is connected.
  3. Integrate with Homey:

    • Add the new Evohome zone to Homey.
    • Connect the smart switch to Homey (I used a Hue bridge for convenience).
  4. Create Flows:

    • Use the sensor values to trigger actions on the smart switch.
    • For example, when the sensor detects a temperature drop, the switch turns on the heater.

Results: This setup has been a game-changer for me! Now, I can remotely monitor and control my electric heaters through Homey, all while maintaining compatibility with Evohome. The integration is seamless, and I love how customizable the flows are.

Tips for Others:

  • Ensure all devices are properly paired and configured before setting up flows.
  • Test each component individually to troubleshoot any issues early on.

If you’re looking to enhance your Evohome system with smart controls, I highly recommend exploring Homey! The possibilities are endless, and the community support is fantastic. :rocket:

Happy automating! :star2:
