Successfully Integrating Exterior Blinds with Siri in OpenHAB

Hey everyone! I wanted to share my experience with integrating my exterior KNX blinds with Siri in OpenHAB. It’s been a journey, but I’m thrilled to say it’s working perfectly now! :tada:

For those who might be tackling a similar project, here’s a quick rundown of what I did:

  1. Setup in OpenHAB: I defined a roller shutter element for the blinds and a dimmer element for the slat angle. This allowed me to control both the position of the blinds and the angle of the slats directly from the iOS app.

  2. HomeKit Configuration: The key was configuring the HomeKit add-on correctly. I made sure to map the commands for opening, closing, and adjusting the slat angle to their respective channels in OpenHAB.

  3. Testing Commands: Once everything was set up, I tested different Siri commands to see how they responded. It was amazing to see the blinds move smoothly and the slats adjust precisely as I commanded them!

Here’s a tip for anyone working on something similar: Start by testing individual commands in the OpenHAB UI before integrating with Siri. This helps identify any issues early on.

If you’re looking to automate your blinds or any other smart devices, OpenHAB combined with Siri makes for a fantastic setup. It’s powerful, customizable, and just plain fun to use!

Let me know if you have any questions or if you’d like more details on my setup. Happy automating! :rocket:
