Successfully Integrating Google Home with My Denon Receiver

I’ve been on a journey to integrate my Google Nest Mini with my Denon AVR 2313 receiver, and I’m thrilled to share my success! :tada:

For those who might be facing similar challenges, here’s how I made it work:

  1. Setup with Homey: I used the Homey app to control my Denon receiver. It allowed me to turn the device on, select the right input for my Chromecast, and set the volume. The key was ensuring the receiver appeared in Google Home through Homey, even though it only had basic on/off functionality.

  2. Perfect Playlists: I wanted to say, “Okay Google, play my blues playlist from Spotify”, and have it play through my Chromecast, which is connected to the Denon. After some tweaking, I managed to create a flow in Homey that triggers the perfect setup every time I use my voice command.

  3. The Magic of Automation: Setting up this automation has completely transformed my music experience. Now, I don’t have to manually adjust settings—I just ask Google, and it all falls into place seamlessly.
