Hey everyone! I wanted to share my recent success with integrating Govee LED strip lights into my smart home setup. I’ve been curious about whether these lights could be controlled individually, rather than just by segments, and after some research and experimentation, I’m thrilled to say it’s possible!
I purchased the Govee RGBICPro LED Light Strip, model H619A, with the hope of having more granular control over each LED. Initially, it seemed like only segments could be adjusted, which was a bit disappointing. But after digging into the Govee app and some community discussions, I discovered that while the default setup does use segments, there are ways to achieve more precise control!
Here’s what I found:
-
Segment Adjustment: The app allows you to change the number of LEDs per segment. By default, it’s set to 6 LEDs per segment, but I adjusted it to 4, giving me more flexibility in how I set up my lights.
-
Firmware Update: Ensuring the lights were on the latest firmware version was crucial. The update process was straightforward through the app, and it unlocked some hidden features that improved control.
-
Custom Scenes: I created custom scenes in the app where I could assign different colors to specific segments. It’s not exactly individual LED control, but it’s a step closer and works perfectly for my setup.
-
Integration with Home Assistant: I also managed to integrate these lights with my Home Assistant setup. Using MQTT, I can now control the lights through my voice assistant and even set up automations based on my daily routines.
This experience has been incredibly rewarding. Not only did I learn more about the capabilities of Govee products, but I also deepened my understanding of smart home integration. I’m now looking forward to experimenting with more advanced automation scenarios!
If anyone has questions about their Govee setup or needs tips on integration, feel free to reach out. I’d be happy to help!
Cheers,
Rick
