I recently decided to switch from Eufy cameras to Reolink to eliminate the hassle of battery-powered devices. My setup involves a two-story house with unique lighting challenges both indoors and outdoors. After much research, I settled on the Reolink RLC-840A for outdoor use and the RLC-840WA for the front of the house. The RLC-840A proved to be a great choice for the backyard, handling the low-light conditions effectively. However, the front camera posed a challenge due to inconsistent street lighting. To address this, I implemented a motion detection system that adjusts sensitivity based on time of day, significantly reducing false alarms. The integration with HomeAssistant was seamless, and I now have all my feeds accessible through the NAS with scrypted for notifications. This setup has not only improved security but also reduced the daily maintenance routine.
