I wanted to share my recent success in integrating humidity control with my smart thermostat system. After struggling with inconsistent humidity levels in my home, I decided to take matters into my own hands and create a custom solution using my Aeon Multi Sensor and Hubitat.
Initially, I faced challenges with finding a reliable smart app for humidity control. Many existing solutions either didn’t work properly or lacked the customization I needed. Determined to solve this, I turned to the Hubitat community for inspiration and found a fantastic solution using the Virtual N Way Switch app. This app not only solved my humidity issues but also streamlined my thermostat controls.
Here’s what I did:
- Setup the Aeon Multi Sensor: I configured my Aeon Multi Sensor to monitor humidity levels, setting it to report every 8 minutes for maximum data accuracy.
- Develop Custom Logic: Using the Virtual N Way Switch app, I created a system that automatically turns on the dehumidifier when humidity exceeds 50% and turns it off when levels drop below that threshold. This app was perfect because it reduced cascading events caused by Hubitat’s Z-Wave radio delays.
- Testing and Fine-Tuning: I tested the system extensively, tweaking settings to ensure smooth operation. The result? Perfect humidity control with minimal user intervention!
This experience taught me the power of community-driven solutions and the importance of persistence when it comes to smart home automation. I’m thrilled with how this setup has improved my home comfort and would love to hear others’ experiences or tips for similar projects!
