I’ve been on a journey to integrate both Leviton and Lutron Caseta devices into my SmartThings ecosystem, and I’m thrilled to share my experience! ![]()
Initially, I started with Leviton Z-Wave Plus switches, which have been a fantastic addition to my home. Their reliability and ability to act as Z-Wave repeaters have been a huge plus. However, when I encountered switches without neutral wires, I knew I needed an alternative solution. Enter Lutron Caseta! ![]()
The Lutron Caseta switches were the perfect fit for areas without neutral wires. But here’s the catch: integrating them with my existing Leviton setup required some research and planning. I wondered, could I automate both brands together? The answer is a resounding yes! ![]()
I discovered that while Lutron requires its own hub, it can coexist with the SmartThings hub. This means I can create automations that involve both Leviton and Lutron switches seamlessly. For example, I set up a routine where turning on a Leviton dimmer in my living room also triggers a Lutron switch in the adjacent room. It’s like having the best of both worlds! ![]()
One thing to note is the device limit on the Lutron hub, but given my gradual replacement plan, this won’t be an issue for several years. Plus, the flexibility of choosing the right switch for each location has been invaluable. ![]()
This integration has not only enhanced my home automation setup but also taught me the importance of thorough research and adaptability. If you’re considering a similar setup, my advice is to plan carefully, leverage community resources, and embrace the learning process. Happy automating! ![]()
