Successfully Integrating Motion Sensors in a Barn with Two Doors

I recently faced an interesting challenge while setting up motion sensors in my barn. The barn has two doors on opposite sides, and I wanted a single motion sensor to control the lights when I enter through either door. At first, I wasn’t sure how to achieve this, but after some research and experimentation, I found a great solution!

I decided to use a Motion 2 sensor placed on the ceiling near the lights. After some trial and error, I discovered that positioning it slightly above the center of the barn allowed it to detect motion from both doors effectively. The sensor’s wide coverage area made it possible to trigger the lights regardless of which door I entered through.

Here are a few tips I learned during the process:

  • Placement is key: Mount the sensor at a height of about 3-3.5 meters to ensure optimal coverage.
  • Test different angles: Adjust the sensor’s angle to maximize its detection range without causing false triggers.
  • Consider multiple sensors if needed: If one sensor doesn’t cover the entire area, adding a second one can provide better coverage.

This setup has made my barn much more convenient to use, especially during late-night visits. It’s amazing how a simple automation can make such a big difference!

If anyone has tips or alternative solutions for similar setups, I’d love to hear them. Happy automating! :rocket:
