I’ve been on a journey to create a seamless smart pool management system, and I’m thrilled to share my experience! 
My setup includes a Shelly 3 Pro EM for my pool pump and chlorine cell, paired with Homey as my smart hub. The goal was to automate pool maintenance while ensuring energy efficiency, especially with my photovoltaic system and battery storage.
Initially, I faced a challenge with managing the Shelly devices during cloudy days when solar power was limited. I wanted a way to suspend the scheduled tasks for the entire day with just a click, rather than manually turning off each device and risking forgetting to reactivate them. After some research and experimentation, I discovered that Homey’s automation rules could be configured to handle this elegantly. By setting up a single toggle switch, I can now disable the pool pump and chlorine cell schedules effortlessly. This has been a game-changer for my daily routine!
Another hurdle was ensuring smooth communication between the Shelly devices and Homey. I found that using MQTT integration helped bridge any gaps, allowing for more reliable automation.
