Hi everyone, I wanted to share my recent experience with integrating my smart thermostat using the Z-Wave JS add-on. I recently updated to version 0.8.0 and encountered some unexpected issues with my thermostat connection. Initially, I was concerned that the update might have caused the problem, but after some troubleshooting, I realized it was a temporary glitch.
Here’s what I did to resolve it:
-
Backup First: Before making any changes, I made sure to backup my Z-Wave JS configuration. This was a crucial step that saved me from potential data loss.
-
Reverting the Add-on: I temporarily reverted the Z-Wave JS add-on to the previous version (0.7.9). This allowed my thermostat to reconnect and function properly again.
-
Manual Temperature Adjustment: Once the connection was restored, I manually set the temperature on my thermostat. This step ensured that the thermostat was in sync with my Home Assistant setup.
-
Reapplying the Update: After confirming that the thermostat was working correctly with the older version, I cautiously re-applied the update to Z-Wave JS 0.8.0. The connection held, and my thermostat has been stable ever since.
I wanted to share this experience because it highlights the importance of thorough testing and backup procedures when updating critical add-ons. It’s also a testament to the resilience of the Z-Wave JS community, which quickly addressed the issue and provided helpful solutions.
If anyone else is experiencing similar problems, I encourage you to check out the official Z-Wave JS documentation and community forums. There are plenty of resources and knowledgeable users who can provide guidance.
