Successfully Integrating SmartThings Hub with Vivint System

I’ve been on a journey to integrate my Vivint security system with a SmartThings hub, and I’m thrilled to share my experience and some tips that might help others facing similar challenges. My goal was to unlock additional features from my Inovelli Red series dimmers that Vivint couldn’t handle, such as custom LED notifications and scene control. After some research, I decided to grab a SmartThings hub and pair it with my Vivint controller. The setup went smoothly, and all my Z-Wave devices appeared in the SmartThings app. However, I encountered an issue where device statuses (like lock/unlock) didn’t update unless I controlled them via the SmartThings app. This was a bit frustrating, especially since I wanted the system to automatically trigger notifications based on door statuses without manual intervention. After some digging, I discovered that the problem lay in how the statuses were being monitored. By adjusting the automation rules to poll the device states more frequently and ensuring that the SmartThings hub was the primary controller, I managed to get everything working seamlessly. Now, if my front door is unlocked, the bedroom light switch pulses red, and when it’s locked, it returns to a steady blue dim light. It’s a fantastic setup that combines the reliability of Vivint with the flexibility of SmartThings. If anyone else is tackling a similar project, I’d recommend thoroughly checking your hub settings, ensuring all devices are properly paired, and maybe experimenting with different automation triggers. Happy integrating! :rocket:
