Hey everyone, I wanted to share my recent experience integrating SmartThings with Home Assistant. It’s been a journey, but I’m thrilled with how it all came together! ![]()
I’ve been using SmartThings for a while now, especially with my Sonoff devices. But I always wanted to bridge the gap between SmartThings and Home Assistant for seamless automation. After some research and trial and error, I managed to set it up! Here’s how I did it:
-
Flashing Tasmota: I started by flashing Tasmota onto my Sonoff devices. It was a bit nerve-wracking, but the process went smoothly. Now, these devices are fully controllable through MQTT, which is a big win!
-
SmartThings Integration: The next step was integrating these devices with SmartThings. I used the SmartThings MQTT connector app, which acted as a bridge. It took some tweaking with the configuration files, but once it was set up, everything started communicating perfectly!
-
Home Assistant Setup: In Home Assistant, I configured the MQTT integration to recognize the devices. I also set up some basic automations, like turning off lights when I leave the room. It’s amazing how everything works together now!
-
Testing and Automation: I’ve been testing different scenarios, and I’m impressed with how responsive the setup is. My arrival sensor now triggers a series of actions, from turning on lights to adjusting the thermostat. It’s like having a personal assistant at home!
I’d love to hear how others have integrated their ecosystems. What challenges did you face, and how did you overcome them? Let’s keep the conversation going! ![]()
Cheers,
