Successfully Integrating Tuya Devices with SmartThings

I’ve been on a journey to integrate my Tuya smart devices, such as the MOES wired ZigBee hub and some PIR sensors, with the SmartThings ecosystem. Initially, I was a bit puzzled about whether this was even possible, especially since I’ve heard that not all devices are natively supported. But I decided to give it a shot!

The Challenge:
I started by exploring the SmartThings app and its capabilities. I knew that SmartThings allowed for a lot of customization, but I wasn’t sure how to bridge the gap between Tuya devices and the platform. After some research, I came across some forums and guides that suggested using third-party integrations or even custom device handlers. This was a bit intimidating, but I was determined to figure it out.

The Solution:
Through trial and error, I discovered that using a combination of ZigBee hubs and some clever rule setups in SmartThings, I could get my Tuya devices to communicate effectively. I also found a community-created device handler that helped map the Tuya devices’ functionalities within SmartThings. It wasn’t a seamless process, but with patience, I managed to get everything up and running!

The Outcome:
Now, my Tuya PIR sensors work seamlessly with my SmartThings setup, automating lights and other devices based on motion. It’s been a fantastic way to expand my smart home without replacing all my existing devices. I’m really happy with how it turned out and would love to hear from others who have had similar experiences or successes!

If anyone has tips or tricks for integrating non-native devices, I’d love to hear them. Let’s keep the community knowledge flowing! :rocket:
