Successfully Integrating Yi Camera with Telegram Notifications

Hey everyone, I wanted to share my experience with integrating the Yi Home camera with Telegram notifications. Initially, I faced some challenges, but I managed to set it up successfully, and I’m really happy with how it turned out!

The Setup
I started by connecting my Yi Home 1080 camera to the Yi platform. Everything worked smoothly—viewing live feeds and accessing recorded videos was a breeze. However, I wanted to take it a step further by receiving notifications on Telegram whenever motion was detected.

The Challenge
I realized I needed to figure out how to trigger these notifications using a PIR detector. The camera records a minute-long video when motion is detected, so I wanted the automation to wait until the video was fully recorded before sending it. Additionally, I noticed that the video files were around 9 MB, and I wondered if there was a way to reduce the resolution to make the notifications faster.

The Solution
After some research, I discovered that I could use a combination of automation rules and scripts to achieve this. I set up the PIR detector to trigger the camera, waited for a minute to ensure the video was fully captured, and then used a script to send the video to Telegram. To reduce the file size, I adjusted the camera settings to a lower resolution just for notifications, which worked perfectly!

The Outcome
Now, I receive timely, clear notifications whenever there’s motion detected, and the process is seamless. It’s been a great addition to my home security setup, and I feel much more at ease knowing I can monitor my home remotely.

If anyone else is looking to do something similar, I’d be happy to share more details or help troubleshoot any issues! :rocket:
