Successfully Integrating Zigbee Sensors in a New Home

Hello everyone, I wanted to share my recent experience integrating Zigbee sensors in my new home. Moving from an apartment to a three-story house, I faced some challenges with the range of my Zigbee devices. Initially, my motion sensors and lights worked perfectly on the ground floor, but on the first and second floors, they struggled to connect consistently.

After some research, I discovered that the triple-glazed windows and insulation materials were significantly affecting the Zigbee signal. To address this, I decided to optimize my network setup. I upgraded my Wi-Fi mesh system and strategically placed additional Zigbee repeaters throughout the house. This helped extend the range and improve connectivity.

I also found that organizing my devices into zones within the Hubitat app made managing them much easier. Now, my motion sensors work seamlessly across all floors, and my Hue lights respond promptly. It’s been a learning process, but seeing everything work smoothly now is incredibly rewarding!

If anyone else is dealing with similar issues, especially in newer, well-insulated homes, I highly recommend experimenting with repeaters and optimizing your mesh network. Happy smart home tinkering! :rocket:
