Successfully Migrating Devices to ZigbeeToMQTT and Enhancing Lighting Setup

I’ve been diving into the world of smart home automation lately, and I must say, it’s been an exciting journey! One of my recent projects involved migrating all my Zigbee devices from ZHA to ZigbeeToMQTT. At first, I was a bit nervous about the process, but it turned out to be smoother than I expected. Here’s a quick rundown of how I did it and some tips I picked up along the way.

First, I installed the SLBZ-06 gateway and added MQTT and ZigbeeToMQTT to my HA instance. I was curious if I could just re-pair all my devices via MQTT, and it turns out, yes! I started by moving my repeater devices first, which made the process much smoother. It’s important to note that you can have both ZHA and ZigbeeToMQTT on the same channel during the transition, which was a relief.

One thing I learned is to test each device after re-pairing. I had a few devices that needed a little extra attention, but once everything was set up, the integration with MQTT was seamless. I was especially pleased with how well my Sylvania LED strip worked with the new setup. The app I’m using now allows for some really cool modes, like rotating colors, which adds a nice touch to my home’s ambiance.

If you’re considering making the switch, my advice is to take it one step at a time. Start with your repeaters, then move on to your other devices. It might seem overwhelming at first, but breaking it down makes it manageable. Plus, having a reliable gateway like the SLBZ-06 definitely helps ease the process.

I’m really happy with how everything turned out. My devices are running smoothly, and I love the flexibility MQTT offers. If anyone has questions or needs help with their own migration, feel free to reach out! I’d be happy to share more tips or walk through the process together.

Happy automating everyone! :rocket::sparkles:
