Hello everyone, I wanted to share my recent experience of migrating my smart home system to Home Assistant green. For years, I relied on Devolo Home Control, primarily for radiator thermostats, sockets, and security devices. However, upon learning that Devolo plans to shut down their servers by 2026, I decided it was time for a change.
The transition wasn’t as daunting as I initially feared. I came across some fantastic resources in this forum and the German “Smarthome for Dummies” community, which provided invaluable guidance. One standout resource was the “Advanced Heating Control” blueprint by user panhans. It not only streamlined the process but also ensured a seamless integration of my existing devices.
After setting up Home Assistant on my Synology NAS using Docker, I integrated my Devolo devices as an add-on. The process was remarkably smooth, and within a few weeks, my entire system was fully operational on Home Assistant green. The flexibility and customization options available in Home Assistant have been a breath of fresh air compared to my previous setup.
I’d like to extend my gratitude to the community for the wealth of information and support. If anyone is considering a similar migration, I highly recommend exploring the resources available here. It’s a testament to the power of community and the endless possibilities Home Assistant offers.
Happy automating everyone! ![]()
