Hey everyone, I recently had a bit of a challenge getting my HP printer to pair with Alexa, but I managed to figure it out! I thought I’d share my experience in case anyone else is struggling with the same issue. ![]()

So, the problem started when I tried to connect my new HP printer to Alexa. I had an old printer paired before, but I wanted to switch to the new one. At first, I wasn’t sure how to remove the old printer from Alexa’s list of devices. I did some quick research and found that you have to go into the Alexa app, navigate to the devices section, and manually remove the old printer. That was a bit tricky, but doable! ![]()
Once the old printer was removed, I tried adding the new one. I followed the usual steps: enabling Alexa on the printer settings, making sure both devices were on the same network, and using the Alexa app to search for the printer. But it just wouldn’t find it!
I felt a bit stuck, but I wasn’t going to give up. I decided to try a different approach.
I remembered reading somewhere that sometimes printers need a fresh start. So, I decided to reset my HP printer to its factory settings. I found the reset button on the back of the printer, held it down for about 10 seconds, and watched as the lights started blinking. After a minute or so, the printer rebooted. I gave it a few minutes to fully restart and then tried the pairing process again. This time, it worked! ![]()
I was so relieved and excited that I could actually hear the printer respond to Alexa commands. It’s such a cool feature to have, especially for those lazy mornings when I don’t want to get out of bed to print something. ![]()
For anyone else who’s having trouble with this, here are a few tips I learned along the way:
- Check your network settings: Make sure both your printer and Alexa device are connected to the same Wi-Fi network.
- Reset your printer: If the initial pairing doesn’t work, try resetting the printer to factory settings. It might seem drastic, but it worked for me!
- Update Alexa app: Ensure your Alexa app is up to date. Sometimes, outdated apps can cause compatibility issues.
- Be patient: If the first attempt doesn’t work, don’t get discouraged. Try again, and maybe even restart both devices.
I hope this little guide helps someone out there. It’s such a satisfying feeling to solve a tech problem, and I’m glad I could share my experience! Happy printing! ![]()
