I recently faced a challenge while trying to pair my Tradfri remote with my Conbee 2 stick. Initially, everything seemed to work smoothly within Home Assistant (HA), but I wanted the remote to function independently in case HA went down. After some research and experimentation, I found a solution that works perfectly!
The key was to ensure the remote and bulb were paired directly without relying on HA. I pressed the pair button on the remote for exactly 10 seconds, and the bulb blinked to confirm. While it didn’t work immediately, I realized that the remote needed a fresh battery. After replacing it, the remote began responding flawlessly, even when HA was offline.
This experience taught me the importance of checking battery life and ensuring direct pairing for backup functionality. It’s amazing how a simple fix can resolve what initially seemed like a complex issue. I’m now confident in my setup, knowing it’s resilient even during unexpected downtimes.
