Hey everyone! I just wanted to share my recent success in setting up a smart power outlet timer using the SmartThings Home Monitoring Kit. I’ve been wanting to automate my HRV (Heat Recovery Ventilator) unit for a while now, and I finally found a solution that works perfectly for my setup.
I initially tried the Smart Home Ventilation app, but it wasn’t compatible with my Z-Wave devices. After some research, I discovered that creating a custom automation within the SmartThings app was the way to go. I set up a routine that turns the HRV on and off at specific times using the SmartThings Outlet. It’s been running smoothly for a few days now, and it’s been a great addition to my smart home setup.
The process was a bit trial and error, especially figuring out the right schedule and ensuring the outlet was correctly paired with my hub. But the satisfaction of seeing everything work seamlessly is worth it!
