Successfully Setting Up Inovelli LZW36 Automation with Node-Red

Hey everyone! I just wanted to share my recent experience setting up the Inovelli LZW36 switch in my nursery. I have it connected to an overhead fan with two Philips Hue bulbs and a Philips Hue lightstrip behind the dresser. My goal was to create an automation using Node-Red, and I think I’ve made some progress, though I still have a few questions!

First, let me walk you through what I’ve done so far. The switch is connected to the fan and lights, and I’ve set up some basic automations. For example, pressing the fan switch once turns it on, pressing it again adjusts the speed, and holding it changes the brightness. The same goes for the light switches—they turn on/off and adjust brightness when held. I’ve also managed to link the fan and lights together so that turning on the fan automatically turns on the lights. Pretty cool, right?

However, I’m still figuring out how to make the fan step up or down in power when held, and how to get the dimmer switches to smoothly dim up or down when pressed and held. I’ve looked through some tutorials and community posts, and while I’ve got a basic setup working, I’m not entirely sure if I’m optimizing it correctly. Here’s a quick overview of my setup:

Nursery Setup

I’ve included a diagram of my Node-Red flow below. It’s a bit complex, but I think it’s on the right track. I’m using scene IDs and data to trigger different actions, like turning on/off the fan or adjusting the lights. I’ve also set up some conditional logic to handle the dimming and stepping functions. If anyone has tips on how to refine this or make it more efficient, I’d love to hear them!

One thing I’m particularly proud of is how I’ve integrated the fan and lights. They work seamlessly together, creating the perfect ambiance for late-night feedings. It’s little touches like these that make me really appreciate the flexibility of smart home devices.

I’d also like to give a shoutout to the community for all the helpful resources and tutorials. I’m still new to this, so every bit of guidance helps. If anyone has suggestions on how to improve my setup or troubleshoot any remaining issues, please don’t hesitate to reach out. I’m always looking for ways to make my smart home even smarter!

Thanks for reading, and happy automating! :rocket:
