I’ve been on a bit of a home automation journey lately, and one of my recent projects has been trying to synchronize two Leviton DZ6HD-1BZ dimmer switches. Let me share my experience and what I’ve learned along the way!
First off, my goal was to have the two switches control each other. So, pressing one to turn on should also turn on the other, and vice versa for turning them off. It sounds simple, but figuring out the best way to do this was a bit of a challenge.
I started by looking into different methods: device associations, scenes, and MeshBot automations. After some research, I decided to try device associations first since they seemed like the most reliable option. However, I quickly ran into an issue where I could only select group 1 on the ezlogic.mios.com website. That was frustrating!
After some troubleshooting, I realized I needed to dive deeper into the settings. I reached out to the community for advice and found a helpful guide that walked me through the process step by step. It turns out I needed to adjust some settings on the devices themselves to ensure they were communicating properly.
Finally, I was able to set up the device associations correctly. The key was ensuring both switches were on the same network and properly configured. Now, when I press one switch, the other responds instantly. It’s such a satisfying feeling to see everything work seamlessly!
For anyone else looking to do something similar, I’d recommend starting with device associations and making sure your devices are up to date and properly configured. Don’t hesitate to reach out to the community for help if you run into roadblocks—they’re a wealth of knowledge!
Overall, this project has been a great learning experience, and I’m excited to tackle more home automation projects in the future. Happy automating everyone! ![]()
