Successfully Unlinking TP-Link Kasa from SmartThings

Hey everyone! I wanted to share a quick tip that might help others who are having trouble with the TP-Link Kasa app and SmartThings integration. I recently encountered an issue where my devices weren’t showing up properly after linking, and I figured out a reliable way to fix it. Here’s what worked for me:

  1. Go to the SmartThings Settings: Start by opening the SmartThings app and navigating to the menu tab (the three little lines in the top left corner). From there, select the settings gear icon at the top right.

  2. Connect Services: Scroll down and choose “Connect Services”. This will bring up a list of linked apps and services.

  3. Select TP-Link Kasa: Find the TP-Link Kasa app in the list and tap on it.

  4. Delete Account: At the bottom of the screen, select “Delete Account”. This will unlink your TP-Link Kasa account from SmartThings.

  5. Relink After Setup: The key advice here is to do not relink the Kasa app until all your devices are added to your TP-Link Kasa account first. This ensures that when you do relink, all your devices will appear in SmartThings without any issues.

I hope this helps someone out there! It was a bit frustrating at first, but taking these steps made everything work smoothly. If you have any questions or run into any issues, feel free to ask. Happy smart home tinkering!
