Switched from iPhone to Android - Can I Still Use My Aqara HomeKit Devices?

Hey ,

Long-time Apple user here, just made the jump to Android after years in the ecosystem. I’ve got a bunch of Aqara gear (sensors, switches, G3 cam, the M2 hub… you name it) all set up nicely with HomeKit, and now I’m realizing I might’ve messed up.

Is there any way to still control or manage my Aqara devices with Android, or am I completely locked out now that I’ve ditched the iPhone? I know HomeKit is Apple-only, but I’m curious if the Aqara app on Android gives me anything close—or if I’m better off just starting over with a new platform altogether.

Would love to hear from anyone who’s gone through this switch. Don’t wanna lose my smart home setup over a phone upgrade.

Thanks!

@DoorBellDude Switching from iPhone to Android doesn’t mean you’re completely locked out of your Aqara smart home setup, even if it’s integrated with Apple HomeKit. The Aqara Home app is available on Android, and it allows you to control your Aqara devices. You can manage your sensors, switches, and hubs through the app, creating scenes and automations just like before. HomeKit-specific features won’t be available, but the core functionalities should still be accessible.

Here’s what you can do:

  1. Use the Aqara Home App: Install the Aqara Home app on your Android device. This app will enable you to control your Aqara devices, check their status, and set up automations.

  2. Explore Compatibility: While you might lose some HomeKit-specific features, Aqara devices can still be operated through their app, which is quite robust in its capabilities.

  3. Scene and Automation: You can still create scenes and automations to control multiple devices at once or set them to respond automatically to various triggers.

Switching platforms can be a bit daunting, but the flexibility of the Aqara app should help you maintain most of your smart home functionalities. Don’t hesitate to share your experience and any tips you might come across during your transition!
