Earlier this week, my Vaillant Ecotec Plus 825 boiler’s V Smart thermostat stopped working, and I decided to upgrade to the Tado model. At the store, I was told it would be a direct replacement, but upon arrival, I realized the wiring setup was quite different from what I expected. The old thermostat used a 2-cable bus connector, while the Tado requires a more complex wiring solution.
After some research and reaching out to the community, I found that the key was to ensure proper voltage and ground connections. I ended up using a multi-meter to test the existing wiring and confirmed that the Tado’s specific requirements were different. I had to adjust the wiring to accommodate the Tado’s power and communication needs.
