Temperature Monitoring Solutions with DS18B20 Sensors

I’ve always been fascinated by the potential of integrating smart home technologies to optimize energy efficiency and comfort. Recently, I’ve been exploring temperature monitoring solutions to better understand and manage the heating system in my home. I came across the DS18B20 sensors, which seem to be a popular choice for their reliability and versatility. These sensors can be easily attached to pipes and even used underwater, making them perfect for my setup.

I’ve been experimenting with connecting these sensors to a NodeMCU (ESP8266 v3) module. The idea is to log temperature data from different points in my heating system, such as the inlet and outlet of the floor heating and the buffer tank of my heat pump. This setup would allow me to monitor the efficiency of my heating system in real-time and make adjustments as needed.

While I’ve managed to get the sensors and NodeMCU working together, I’m curious about integrating this system with Homey. I’ve heard that Homey supports MQTT, which could be a great way to bridge the gap between my DIY setup and the smart home ecosystem I’ve built. I’m wondering if there are any existing integrations or community-developed solutions that can help me achieve this seamlessly.

Another thing I’ve been exploring is the possibility of using these sensors for other applications around the house, such as monitoring the temperature of water tanks or even soil moisture in my garden. The flexibility of the DS18B20 sensors really opens up a lot of possibilities, and I’m excited to see how far I can take this project.

If anyone has experience with similar setups or can provide guidance on integrating these sensors with Homey, I’d love to hear your thoughts! Let’s collaborate and make our homes smarter together. :grinning:
