This is by far one of the worst WiFi cameras I’ve ever used.
The WiFi stability is terrible. The G100 frequently goes offline, even when the WiFi access point is literally right next to it. An outdoor security camera should be reliable, but this one constantly loses connection.
The most frustrating part is what happens after it disconnects.
Unlike most cameras that reconnect automatically or recover after a simple power cycle, the G100 often becomes completely unreachable. In about 9 out of 10 cases, I have to climb up to the camera, perform a full hardware reset by pressing the reset button repeatedly for around 15 seconds, and then set the entire camera up again from scratch.
And it gets even worse.
For some reason, Aqara decided to print the QR code on the bottom of the mounting base. That means every time the camera needs to be paired again, I have to remove it from the wall just to scan the QR code. This is an unbelievably poor design decision for an outdoor camera.
An outdoor security camera should be dependable. Instead, the G100 is unreliable, difficult to recover when it fails, and unnecessarily frustrating to reinstall.
The WiFi stability is poor, and the recovery and pairing design is even worse.
