Hi everyone I’m a bit new here but I was hope someone could help. Iv been looking at the new displays and I’m not sure if I should go for dial or the panel hub S1 plus. I like the clean look of the dial but I love the functionality of the S1 plus. And dose one know if they work with home assistant and what’s you can do with them in home assistant.
Ooh, I’d be very intrigued if they worked with Home Assistant.
In my workshop I have an iPad Mini mounted to a pegboard set up as a Home Assistant display/control device.
I have it set in Kiosk mode so it only displays the Home Assistant app, and then I have Home Assistant send a notification to the iPad (which isn’t displayed because it’s in Kiosk mode) any time the FP2 presence sensor detects I’m within 2 meters of it. The notification wakes the screen and it repeats the notification every few minutes to keep the screen on.
So the screen is off anytime I’m too far away to see/use the screen, but anytime I’m within reach it will automatically be on and display Home Assistant.
However, I’d love a more dedicated device for other rooms.
Hope Aqara will put more effort into the whole display-market - would be wonderful to have a bigger solution rather than going Home Assistant custom solutions.
That’s a good work around it would be amazing if Aqara made it so you could display home assistant dashboard on the wall panels
Agreed an aqara display would be nice
I like what they have done with the Panel hub s1 but a larger display maybe something like the Amazon echo hub would be amazing
Do anyone has experience with this panel hub s1?
I was thinking on trying one of those but still not sure about it
I’d like to know more too. I’ve got Home Assistant running on a Lenovo tablet in kiosk mode, but it’s a PITA to set up. Before adding more screens around the house I’d love to know how well it works.
I have played with Shelly, Sonoff and Aqara.
The Aqara screen is by far the best of them all. Excellent viewing angles and an oled feeling. Also, much more responsive.
It also looks much better designed than any other brands (better polish overall).
Having the usb-c port is a brilliant idea. Perfect to box mount to configure before wall mounting.
But while you can super easily install HA companion app on the 2 other brands, you cannot on Aqara (yet).
It’s my sweet and sour product. I refuse to sell it because they MIGHT add the possibility and I refuse to wall mount it because it’s not good enough with HA.
I also do not want to buy any other brand as I can see the potential with this one and it would be perfect for me.
I would buy a few and put them in central rooms if they just added HA companion.
That’s a little sad you had me sold until no home assistant app it would be amazing if this is something they added I would my so of Aqara screens in they add HA support
