Hey Govee community! I wanted to share some tips based on my recent experience setting up the Curtain Lights 2 at my partner’s Christmas party. It was a blast, and the lights really added to the festive atmosphere! Here’s what I learned:
Mounting Without Drilling
We couldn’t drill into the venue’s walls, so we opted for adhesive strips. They worked surprisingly well! We applied them to the back of the lights and pressed firmly for a few seconds. To ensure they stayed put, we also used command strips for extra grip. The best part? They left no marks when we removed them after the event.
Connecting to a Mobile Network
Since we weren’t on our home network, we used my partner’s mobile router. Here’s how we did it:
- Turned off the venue’s Wi-Fi on the lights.
- Connected the lights to the mobile router via the Govee app.
- Made sure the router was placed close to the lights to avoid any connection issues.
Switching Accounts
My partner wasn’t on the Govee app before, so we had to transfer control. Here’s the quick fix:
- Paired the lights with his phone using Bluetooth.
- Removed them from my account by going to Settings > Devices > Remove Device.
- Re-paired them with his account.
Pro Tip
If you’re planning a similar setup, make sure to test everything beforehand. We did a quick run-through at home to ensure the lights would sync properly with the mobile network. Also, clear the app’s cache if you’re having trouble connecting—this fixed a few issues for us!
Hope these tips help others who want to bring the magic of Govee to their events! ![]()
