I’ve been using OpenHAB for a couple of years now, and it’s been working great until recently. I started noticing that the Network Binding presence detection was having some issues. Specifically, when I leave home and come back, the system doesn’t detect me properly. I’ve tried restarting OpenHAB, and that seems to work temporarily, but the problem always comes back.
After looking into the logs, I noticed a series of messages indicating that the host name was resolving to a different address, prompting the system to re-setup presence detection. This made me think that maybe the iOS Private Wi-Fi feature is causing some issues. I’ve heard that this feature assigns private IP addresses to devices, which could change over time, leading to new DHCP assignments and potentially causing the presence detection to fail.
I’m considering deleting all of my Network Things and re-adding them through the UI to see if that helps. I wonder if others have experienced similar issues and if there’s a known fix or workaround for this problem. If anyone has any suggestions or insights, I’d really appreciate hearing them!
