Hey everyone, I’ve been diving into the world of home automation and it’s been both exciting and a bit challenging. I wanted to share my experience with integrating my SmartThings hub with the Harmony Hub. While the idea of controlling all my devices through one interface is fantastic, I ran into a bit of a snag.
Initially, I was able to connect and authorize the SmartThings hub with Harmony, but when Harmony went to discover devices, it came back empty-handed. I was a bit puzzled since I had only added switches, which I thought should be compatible. After some research and a bit of trial and error, I figured out that the issue might be related to the device types or perhaps some configuration settings on the SmartThings side.
I decided to test this by adding a few more devices to my SmartThings setup, including some smart plugs and a thermostat. After re-running the discovery process, Harmony was able to detect and control the additional devices! It seems like having a variety of device types helped Harmony recognize the hub more effectively.
This experience taught me the importance of thorough testing and not being afraid to experiment. If you’re having trouble integrating your SmartThings hub with Harmony, I’d recommend checking the device types and ensuring that your hub is fully configured with a range of supported devices. It’s also worth exploring the Harmony app settings to make sure everything is properly aligned.
I’d love to hear if anyone else has encountered similar issues or has tips for a smoother integration process. Happy automating! ![]()
