Troubleshooting Wyze Cam V3 Micro SD Card Issues

I recently purchased two Wyze Cam V3 cameras and decided to add a SanDisk 128GB Ultra microSDXC UHS-I Memory Card to each. While the installation process seemed straightforward, I encountered an issue where the camera app consistently displayed ‘No MicroSD card found’ despite the card being properly inserted. Here’s my journey through troubleshooting and the steps I took to resolve the issue:

  1. Initial Setup and Problem Identification:

    • I carefully inserted the microSD card into each camera, ensuring it was seated correctly. The card only fits in one orientation, so I made sure it was aligned properly.
    • After setting up the cameras, I opened the Wyze app and navigated to the ‘Manage MicroSD card’ section. To my surprise, the app indicated that no card was detected.
  2. Double-Checking the Installation:

    • I removed the card and inspected it for any visible damage or dirt. Everything looked fine.
    • I reinserted the card multiple times, each time checking the app. The result remained the same.
  3. Testing the Card on Another Device:

    • To rule out a faulty card, I used the included adapter to test the card in my laptop. The card was recognized without any issues, confirming that the card itself was functional.
  4. Checking Camera Compatibility:

    • I reviewed the Wyze Cam V3 specifications to ensure the card was compatible. The camera supports up to 128GB microSDXC cards, so the card should have been supported.
  5. Resetting the Camera:

    • As a last resort, I performed a factory reset on the camera. After resetting, I reinserted the card and checked the app again. This time, the card was detected successfully!
  6. Conclusion:

    • It appears that the factory reset helped resolve the issue, possibly by resetting some corrupted settings or firmware glitches. If you encounter a similar problem, I recommend trying a factory reset before concluding that the card or camera is faulty.

This experience taught me the importance of thorough troubleshooting and not jumping to conclusions. Sometimes, a simple reset can resolve seemingly complex issues!
